What Does Purification Remove?

Some trace compounds are removed in the water like phosphates, carbonates, bicarbonates, calcium, nitrates, sulfates, potassium, magnesium, manganese, and iron. These substances combined are commonly known as Total Dissolved Solids or TDS. Yes, some of the substances are necessary for your body to function, but Aquafina removes them because the trace amounts found in water will have no impact on your health. Total Dissolved Solids are the sum of all the solids that are dissolved in water, measured in ppm or parts per million. Usually, a TDS meter is used to read the amount of dissolved solids in the water. The FDA, or Food and Drug Administration, has guidelines in place that require bottled water, except mineral water, to contain 500 ppm TDS or less. Purified bottled water should have no more than a measure of 10 ppm. Aquafina does even better by maintaining a steady measure of 4 ppm TDS, which is almost three times lower than the FDA standards.
Another interesting feature of the purification system is the ability to remove dissolved solids and other organic compounds that are often present in water.
